Melissanthi Mahut
Melissanthi Mahut (born 1988) is a Greek-Canadian actress. She provides the voice for the character Kassandra in multiple Assassin's Creed projects.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Assassin's Creed[edit | edit source]
Mahut had several minor voice roles as background Greek citizens of Egypt in the 2017 video game Assassin's Creed: Origins.[1] After Origins, Ubisoft asked her to audition for another then-unnamed project,[2] as the company wished to hire as many native Greek speakers as possible.[3] After passing the first audition in London, England, Mahut flew back to Canada for the final audition and performed with Alexios' voice actor Michael Antonakos. In May 2017, she began recording. Melissanthi's casting was then officially announced as the lead role in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey in June 2018.[2]
After being cast, Mahut researched many female video game protagonists but found the best way to embody Kassandra was to simply be herself. Her role as Kassandra was also her first in motion capture. Voicing the character took anywhere from two to four hours a session. Regarding the romances, Mahut find it natural to be able to romance anyone. She was originally overwhelmed with Kassandra's popularity, but eventually found joy to it and shares fan-art as much as she can. By January 2019, Mahut still had yet to play Odyssey.[2]
Mahut returned in 2021 to reprise her role as Kassandra in Assassin's Creed Crossover Stories , a free downloadable expansion for the 2020 video game Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, and twice in 2023 for the VR game Assassin's Creed: Nexus VR and the mobile game Assassin's Creed: Jade.
