Mayan Machete

The Mayan Machete was a golden machete designed with Maya imagery which was used by Adéwalé, an Assassin of the West Indies Brotherhood.

History[edit | edit source]

A boat carrying the weapon in a treasure chest was wrecked off the coast of Fort Matías sometime prior to 1735, and it was washed ashore along with the wreckage and its deceased crew. Around 1737, the Caribbean Assassin Adéwalé returned to explore the fort, having previously served as the quartermaster to the pirate Edward Kenway who destroyed it years before. There, he came across the beautiful blade, still in its chest, on the beach beneath the cliff on which the fort sat.[1] Given its superior design, he adopted it as his new primary weapon and used it during his subsequent assassination of Saint-Domingue Governor Pierre de Fayet on 8 July against de Fayet's guards.[2]
