Maso degli Albizzi
Tommaso "Maso" degli Albizzi (1347 – 1417) was an Italian nobleman and member of the Florentine House of Albizzi, a prominent banking family.[1]
Biography[edit | edit source]
Maso's family came to power due to a power vacuum left in the wake of the Ciompi Revolt by 1382. Worried about the rise of Cosimo de' Medici and his family, Maso and his son Rinaldo had him first imprisoned[2] in the Palazzo della Signoria[3] and then exiled in 1433.[2][4] However, the following year, Cosimo gained power and banished the whole Albizzi family save for Rinaldo's brother Luca, who was loyal to the Medici.[2][4]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The database entries in Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed: Identity both erroneously claim that Maso had a hand in Cosimo's exile in 1433, despite the fact that Maso had died in 1417 and so would have been dead for over 15 years.[1]
