Liutprand of Cremona (c. 920 – 972) was an Italian clergyman, serving as bishop of Cremona and ambassador to the Byzantine capital of Constantinople. He wrote a book relating his experience, the Mission to Constantinople. During the early 16th century, the Italian Assassins' Mentor Ezio Auditore retrieved a copy of this book which Niccolò Polo had hidden two centuries earlier on a tower next to the Hagia Sophia.[1]
