Eivor, main protagonist of Assassin's Creed Valhalla / Contemporary

A feud was one of the legal ways to restore a person or clan's honour. Feuds were monitored by the assembly of freemen to ensure social harmony and order. All collateral damage had to paid for by the participants of the feud, including wergeld: "the price of a man." Each person in society, according to their age, gender, and social status, had a given value that could be demanded as compensation for either their reputation or, if they were killed during the feud, their life.

Vengeance and feuds were central to Eivor's quest in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla.
