King's Palace

King's Palace (Runic: ᚴᛁᚾᚴᛋ ᛒᛅᛚᛅᚴᛅ) was a palace in central Eitri, Svartálfaheimr situated across a bridge from the tower Maekinn. During the Muspel invasion, the palace was taken over personally by the warlord Surtr.
History[edit | edit source]
In Eivor Varinsdottir's visions of Odin's time in Svartalfheim, the Æsir lord Havi and his former love Frigg ventured towards the King's Palace to rescue their son Baldr from the Muspels. Upon their arrival, they came into contact with Surtr and his wife Sinmara. Havi and Surtr faced off while Frigg fought against Sinmara. Although Havi bested Surtr, he was caught off-guard after Surtr revived himself and later watched both Sinmara and him kill Frigg. Hurt, he was dragged from the palace and dumped in the outskirts of Eitri.[1]
During his campaign against Surtr, Havi found himself again at the palace with dwarven blacksmith and shelter chief Brokkr after devising of a plan to finally kill the warlord with the Salakar. Leaving Brokkr behind, he confronted Surtr and fought against the warlord. Victorious again, he used the Salakar on Surtr's corpse, which seemingly disintegrated Surtr and blew up the palace. In the destruction, Havi saved Brokkr from the rubble but noticed Surtr reconfigure himself. Taking the Salakar again, Havi goaded Surtr to chase him while Brokkr was killed by an enraged Surtr.[2]
