Kherty was a god of the Duat in Egyptian mythology.
Mythology[edit | edit source]
Kherty was a god of the Egyptian afterlife. In some texts he was the god that served as a ferryman for kings to the afterlife, and also as a ward against demons send by Seth. In others, he was seen as an incarnation of death itself, being the reason why people's hearts stopped. In the Coffin Texts Kherty is replaced by the god Aker.[1]
Legacy[edit | edit source]
In the 1st century BCE, a temple dedicated to Kherty was long since abandoned and turned to ruins. Medjay Bayek of Siwa visited the ruins and killed the bandits that were holed up here.
