John Bélestre-McDonnell (French: Jean-François-Marie-Joseph McDonnell; 21 October 1799 – 1866) was a prominent barrister in Montreal during the early 18th century.

McDonnell was a friend of the Assassin and leader of the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Society, Ludger Duvernay. Thus, he hosted a soirée in celebration of the first Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day in the gardens of his residence on the rue Saint-Antoine. Nearly 60 people participated, including Americans and Irishmen.

During the soirée, one of McDonnell's servants was murdered by a violinist who was secretly a Templar agent. However, Larose, an associate of Duvernay, knocked the Templar unconscious.
