Ixion's Shackles

The Ixion's Shackles were gauntlets present in the simulation of the Greek underworld. Believed to have been the manacles binding the mythical Ixion, the metal of the bracers was strong and dark.

The gauntlets were found by the Spartan misthios Kassandra after she defeated the men of the Cyclops of Kephallonia in a sacked village.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Ixion's Shackles, a piece of armor in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey's DLC The Fate of Atlantis: Torment of Hades, shares the same model as the commonly found Dark Steel Gauntlets, another piece of armor in the same game.

The name and the description of Ixion's Shackles reference the story of Ixion, the first man to kill kin in Greek mythology, and his ultimate punishment of being shackled to a fiery spinning wheel, which in later tellings was said to be in Tartaros.
