Iguanas are herbivorous lizards that are native to tropical areas of Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. The animal can also be found in the wild in Hawaii, but in this case the animal was introduced to the archipelago by humans.

Description[edit | edit source]

The most common iguana is the green iguana, which primarily feeds on leaves, flowers and fruits. Although it typically flees when threatened, it can puff its body and hiss or lash its tail and bite.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

During the early 18th century, the pirate Edward Kenway hunted iguanas for their hides. In 1715, he killed and skinned two of them on Abaco Island to craft leather bracers.[1] After becoming an Assassin, Edward's quartermaster Adéwalé also hunted iguanas.[2]
