The Heavy Athenian Breastplate

The Heavy Athenian Breastplate was a type of breastplate in the 5th century BCE Greece. Though originating in Athens, and used by soldiers loyal to Attika and the Delian League, these pieces of armor made of thick metal had spread throughout the Greek world by the Peloponnesian War.

The Spartan misthios Kassandra commonly found this piece of armor in the inventories of blacksmiths and looted it from bodies and chests during her travels throughout Greece.[1]
