Heart of the Wood

The Heart of the Wood was the home of Angrboda in Jötunheimr.
History[edit | edit source]
In Eivor Varinsdottir's visions of Odin's time in Jotunheim, the Æsir lord came across the area but saw nothing of Angrboda's house. After finding two mystic pillars, he broke the illusion and ventured further into the residence. Before entering, he heard an argument between Angrboda and her guest Hyrrokin. Breaking up the conversation, Havi talked to Angrboda about the Mead Hyrrokin mentioned before she left. However, Angrboda promised to tell the Mead's location if Havi completed the task of retrieving three roots of the hag's claw from Leyna Falls.[1]
After finding the three roots, Havi returned the Heart of the Wood and gave the roots to Angrboda. From brewing the roots into an elixir, she gave the brew to Havi and asked him invasive questions about Ásgarðr's defenses and his battle against fate. Havi admitted the truth unwillingly as the elixir made him uncontrollably honest. Within the questioning, Loki came as they held Havi hostage for his crime against their son Fenrir. However, Havi promised to not harm him due to his word with Loki. Nevertheless, they bonded him to the home's tree and left him imprisoned while Havi passed out from the elixir.[1]
Moments later, Havi woke up to Hyrrokin mocking him and soon releasing from the tree's grasp. Wondering what she wanted, Havi asked why she helped him. Hyrrokin wanted Havi to steal the Mead from Suttungr and Gunlodr for her own purposes. Needing a gift for Suttungr, Havi was told that Ægir's cauldron for Suttungr was missing and to check the route it was on. Hyrrokin also mentioned to go to Thrym's House to find a gift for Gunlodr to entice her as well. She stated that once he has the Mead, he must find her at Well of Mimir.[1]
