Hallebarde croissant

The hallebarde croissant is a French halberd with a crescent-shaped axe blade.

Description[edit | edit source]

True to its name, the French hallebarde croissant bears a distinctive axe blade in the shape of a crescent. This wide blade, reinforced in place by metal rims and curving outwards, is more effective at blocking other weapons than conventional halberd axe shapes. Like all halberds, the polearm also incorporates a rear protrusion—in this case an elaborate spike not a hook—and an extensive lance-point.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

During the French Revolution, the hallebarde croissant was prevalent in Paris, where it was valued at 250 francs.[1]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Despite the fact the design of its blade is meant to allow for greater ease of blocking, the hallebarde croissant in Assassin's Creed: Unity has no improvement in the mediocre Parry stat from the standard halberd.
