Florin (symbol ƒ) was the standard unit of currency minted and used in Florence, Italy during the Renaissance. It was also widely used in Rome in the same period.

Behind the scenes

The value of the florin as shown in game is wildly in accurate with the historical value being equated to several hundred to a thousand United States dollars in today's currency. In game however the value is much lower than this.
