Duroliponte was a former Roman fortified town in Cambridgeshire, whose site later became the city of Cambridge.
In 873, a group of Vikings of the Great Summer Army under Soma sought refuge at the fort after being driven out by the Anglo-Saxons led by Wigmund. Led by Magni, the Vikings were found by Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan, who sought an alliance with Soma's clan. Unable to assist Eivor, Magni sent her to the Fenlands to look for Soma's flagship.[1]
