Draupnir Smida (Runic: ᛏᚱᛅᚢᛒᚾᚱ ᛋᛘᛁᛏᛅ) was the dwarven forge in western Vangrinn, Svartálfaheimr where Odin's ring Draupnir was created.
History[edit | edit source]
In Eivor Varinsdottir's visions of Odin's time in Svartalfheim, the Æsir lord discovered the forge surrounded by four pillars and recollected the time when Loki pulled the dwarven blacksmiths Brokkr and Sindri into a bet he had made with Odin that they could create gifts greater than Gungnir, Skíðblaðnir, and Sif's hair by Ivaldi's sons. Although Loki transformed into a fly to distract Brokkr, the brothers still created Draupnir, a ring that had the power to replicate itself eight times every ninth night.[1]
