On August 9, 1794, Napoleon was placed under house arrest for supporting Robespierre during the Revolution. *

By the 20th, he was released due to his powerful influence. In 1795, he stopped a local uprising, and by 1798 he was leading the royal army to victory in Egypt. From there, his rise was unstoppable.*
