Lorenzo de' Medici was born into the political life in 1449, and even as a child would be sent on various diplomatic missions. When Lorenzo was six years old, he fell into the Arno River and was saved by a young Giovanni Auditore, and event which stated a long friendship between the two families.

In 1469 at the age of twenty, Lorenzo became the head of the Medici family and quickly gained control of the Florentine government. While Lorenzo ruled over Florence, there were many who conspired against him, and he turned to Giovanni Auditore for assistance, and later Ezio Auditore as well.

Throughout Lorenzo's lifetime, he worked to maintain the fragile peace that existed between the various Italian states. As Ezio worked as his personal assassin for a time, he in turn assisted Ezio in the takedown of the corrupt Borgia.
