Four initiates gather in front of a table, empty except for a small brazier, the room’s only source of light. All is silent, except for one initiate, who scuffles her feet, visibly twitching, whispering to herself under her breath.
The leader enters, carrying four small boxes. She stands across the table from them and speaks.
LEADER – We used to have ceremonies on such occasions, but circumstances don't afford us the same luxury. Are you willing to give up who you once were?
ALL – We are.
The leader places a box in front of each initiate. Each member opens a box, revealing hidden blades.
LEADER – Always remember the tenets that we have sworn to uphold.
ALL – Stay your blade from the flesh of the innocent. Hide in plain sight. Never compromise the Brotherhood.
The initiates equip themselves.
LEADER – You have your training. You have your target. And now you have your tools.
The leader lowers a lid onto the brazier, blanketing the room in shadow.
LEADER – Out of the dark, you come into the light. From the light, you will return to the dark. Go now, and follow the Eagle's path.
