The Last Medjay

A Berber-Egyptian born and raised in the oasis of Siwa at the end of the Ptolemaic era in the first century BCE, Bayek was the last of the Medjay, the protectors of the Old Kingdom of Egypt, and the husband of Aya, with whom he co-founded the Hidden Ones organization.

A caring father and a loving husband, Bayek also had a strong faith in Egyptian tradition, which did not hinder him from being open-minded and welcoming of strangers.

When members of the sinister Order of the Ancients arrived in Siwa and demanded access to the locked Vault under the Temple of Amun, Bayek's life was shattered by the senseless murder of his son. This drove Aya and Bayek apart, with Bayek embarking on a quest for vengeance, hunting down the masked men one by one.

But Bayek's motivation slowly evolved into a drive to see right championed for its own good, fighting the Order of the Ancients to defend justice and the wellbeing of the population.

Bayek's personal ethics and morals were rooted in a strong sense of responsibility and duty to protect those unable to protect themselves. Bayek and Aya shaped the creation of the organization grounded in this ethical system and devoted to justice, known as the Hidden Ones, which would later evolve into the Brotherhood of Assassins.
