The Daktyls Depleted Mine

The Daktyls Depleted Mine was a village born around a depleted mine in Little Egypt in Messara, Greece. It was located in the western part of the region, near Erike's Bluffs.

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra explored the place when she met with a hard-hearing blacksmith and his apprentice to gather some obsidian for them.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The name of the mine may be a reference to Daktyls of Greek mythology, which were an archaic mythical race of male beings associated with Kybele and Rhea. In Krete, the three Daktyls were named Paionios, Epimedes, and Iasios, and it was said that they had introduced the smithing of copper and iron.
