Conradus Celtis (1 February 1459 – 4 February 1508) was a German Renaissance humanist scholar and Neo-Latin poet.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Celtis was notable for his time in that his work focused on the history of the whole world rather than one specific region. Around 1503, the Assassins discovered that Celtis was going to write a publication about the Brotherhood's history, which contained fiction and legends, but also comprised some truths about the covert organisation.[1][2]
The Italian Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze sent a group of apprentices from Rome to speak with the historian, who was persuaded into not publishing the material. Celtis was disappointed, but later became an ally of the Assassins.[1][2]
