The Chesapeake Bay is a large bay running along the coast of Virginia and Maryland in the United States.

The bay was the site of the first permanent British settlement in North America, Jamestown, which was established in 1607.[1]
Later, during the American Revolutionary War, the Battle of the Chesapeake occurred in the bay. During the battle, the French Navy were assisted by the Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton, who captained a ship, the Aquila, and helped defeat the British fleet.[2]
After the loss of the battle, British admiral Thomas Graves retreated back to New York City.[3]
