The Calves' Head Club was a 17th-century English secret society purportedly established to ridicule the memory of the late King Charles I, who had been beheaded in 1647 following his defeat in the English Civil War. In the mid-to-late 1800s, a cult inspired by the Head Club carried out a series of occult rituals in London and kidnapped a detective that attempted to investigate them.
