As for the Timeline, I believe Kulurak actually has like a blog post that he keeps updated with every new piece of media that comes out. It would probably be a useful reference for you if the Timeline idea does go through. I would like to mention, we already have a Timeline article at the moment, so you would have to find something else to call it.

Pages on Wookieepedia, for example. Pretty much every pages has an appearances section. There are different ones. Media has the appearances of pretty much everything including characters and vehicles, but the pages themselves have which media they appeared in and in chronological order.

I have seen the Timeline page and it is helpful, but with all of the new comics and the film among other released media, it may be difficult to get the exact placement right, is what I meant.

I'll link some examples. These pages do contain spoilers for the film and character's story, by the way.
