So first of all, I just want to remind everyone that we have neglected articles on equipment for the newer games. In fact, virtually no weapon from Unity has an article, and that game has dozens (or a hundred?) of unique weapons. Even equipment from Syndicate is lacking some coverage.

I will try my best to get around to it, but I just wanted to notify you guys of this issue. I know that weapons and equipment are probably things a lot of people aren't eager to write about. I get bored writing them too.

Then, there's another issue.

This wiki seems to have started out approaching the series from a gameplay-perspective rather than a lore one, then somewhere along the line, you guys decided on the latter, hence why we write in the historical past tense from an IU-perspective

However, the transition seems to have always been incomplete because it might've been awkward for you guys making that change with articles that deal with subjects that concern gameplay more. Weapons is a huge one and guards another. In some cases, the lingering gameplay writing is more subtle, but it's there, and that's one of the issues we have with weapons articles. Though they're written from an IU-perspective and in the proper tense, they functionally were still more gameplay-based than lore-based. One way you can tell is if just the content of the article only deals with things relevant to gameplay and nothing outside of gameplay, even if it's all written in the historical past tense from an IU-perspective. It's also fine to have an article on a weapon that isn't actually a weapon the player uses. For example, there is an article on Guandao. This isn't actually an equippable weapon, nor one you can ever pick-up and use (in contrast to a long weapon in AC2)—but there is a database entry on it. Not all weapon articles have to be about weapons in the gameplay sense.

I don't mean to ditch the weapon statistics charts by the way. I think it's fine to keep that OOU gameplay section because it's helpful for players. That reminds me of a third problem. It seems one reason people weren't motivated to do Unity weapons is that the way the game displays the statistics of its weapons makes it difficult to know the exact numerical values of each stat. As a result, it seems no one knew how to do the statistics chart for Unity weapons.

Finally, I think we need to have a dedicated infobox for weapons, but I understand that it's hard to think about what the parameters should be.<ac_metadata title="Issues with Weapons articles"> </ac_metadata>
