I would've recommended The Borgias but it was cancelled after three seasons. If you watch it you'll need to read the ebook afterwards. I was let down because they went there with Cesare and Lucrezia even though it was lie created by a sour Giovanni Sforza (another reason Brotherhood was a gigantic cartoon).
