The combat seems a bit weird though, and while I was watching some open world gameplay today, (it was nearly half an hour, the map is HUGE). One of the developers mentioned that higher stat enemies would not go down so easily if you tried to assassinate them. I legit saw Bayek shoot an arrow into a guard's head, and dude LIVED. That is not realistic. The guard wasn't wearing a helmet either. Not sure how I feel about this RPG approach but if Breath of the Wild was successful then I am sure AC Origins will follow suit. I am still gonna buy this, I'll just purchase it through the Xbox Games Store, I own Syndicate digitally, so I don't feel the need to be sentimental and just get a physical copy.

Oh yeah, the combat I think is what I'm most skeptical about. RPG mechanics for combat where an enemy can survive a head shot or a decapitating strike breaks realism and does not belong in Assassin's Creed. :-/ I might be even more apprehensive about the freerunning. I thought they were going to keep the system from Unity and Syndicate which I thought were perfect. However, I did read that there's an option to switch to "legacy" controls, and I wonder what that means.

The only workaround to this is to get weapons that deal more damage, from what I've noticed, if you have the same stats as other enemy NPCs, you can one shot assassinate them. I still feel it breaks realism though. No amount of high stats is going to change the fact that an arrow to the head or a hidden blade to the neck will still kill you. I don't have an issue with the free running, I've always found it enjoyable, no matter what game I was playing. The old free running mechanics were easily the most difficult in the series. One thing I do like is that it takes a while to kill a guard, you know since a fight lasts more than 1 second.
