There are suspicions that Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed take place in the same universe. I found a lot of clues which support this idea. However, I have also found clues that would not support this idea. Also I found some important things to take note of.

AC4: Black Flag
n *While hacking computers in the modern times it is possible to find emails between Abstergo and Blume
n *Olivier Garneau the CEO of Abstergo leaves for a shareholders meeting in Chicago
n Olivier Garneau disappears on his way to the shareholders meeting

Watch Dogs
n Using the profiler it is possible to find people that are former Abstergo employees
n The Criminal Convoy “Requiescat in Pace”
n - name is a reference to Ezio Auditore and what he said after he assassinated a Templar or someone died
- - The target is Olivier Garneau, the profiler says he is the CEO of Abstergo and is targeted by the Brotherhood(most likely the Brotherhood of Assassins)
- at the beginning of the mission it is mentioned that among other things Oliver worked with genetic memories (most likely referring to the Animus)

n Watch Dogs is set in Chicago (which is where Oliver was going for a meeting)
*Release Date – they were meant to come out at the same time
AC4- October- November 2013
Watch Dogs- 2014 but originally planned for November 2013 due to a delay plot takes place in 2013 (Aiden’s niece died in 2012 and a year later, 2013, he became the vigilante) . The plots of both video games line up even though in the real world Watch Dogs was delayed

No Argument (not the same world)
n * It is stated that Olivier Garneau just disappeared. It is (as far as I know) impossible to quietly take down Oliver. Therefore he couldn’t just disappear. There would be gun fire and explosions. Also, with all of the CTOS cameras the fighting would be recorded. There would also be a lot of witnesses. There would be no question how he disappeared.
n *CTOS Leak. In the bunker there is a video of a father watching his son playing a video game. The dad asks the son what the video game character was doing. The son explains that he is an assassin and that he was getting a confession. This is a reference to what happens when an assassin in Assassin’s Creed assassinates a Templar.
n -The reason this doesn’t add up is that before the father and son talk it is possible to hear two voices (the video game characters) one of which sounds like Ezio Auditore. If you listen you can hear a character say “The book you carry. Where is it?” A quote from Assassin’s Creed Revelations. According to the market research found by hacking computers in Assassin’s Creed 4, the researcher did not think Abstergo should make video games about Ezio.

n - Another thing that doesn’t add up is that the father and son use “he”. At this point in Assassin’s Creed there were no male assassin games out. Marketing research was against games about Altair, Ezio, and Connor. Edward’s game was still in development. The only game released was Liberation which stars a female assassin, Aveline de Grandpré

n While the market research in AC 4 was against games about Altair, Ezio, and Connor, Abstergo changed their minds when they released Helix games in AC Unity.
n Murder in the Levant- Starring Altair
n Fear and Loathing in Florence-Starring Ezio
n Washington and the Wolf- starring Connor
n Assassin’s Creed games in the Watch Dogs environment
-AC and AC 2 in bookshelves and better seen in the Pawnshop in The Loop

-While these would disprove them being in the same world, it is important to note that in AC4 in Abstergo there are the novelizations of the games all around
