There is an email in AC4, I think it is the one from Olivier’s computer, which talks about researching their own ancestors. I think they noted that Warren Vidic had an ancestor at Joan of Arc’s execution.

I believe that email is where Olivier mentions he is related to a famous historian.

Melanie Lemay mentioned that she had a relative that met President Lincoln.

Yes, Vidic used himself as "Subject 2" in order to relive the genetic memories of his ancestor, Geoffroy Thérage.

My main point had more to do with the fact that the Templars haven't really focused on or even prioretized the acquisition of descendants of people whose lives would have been interesting. I understand that people such as Elizabeth I or Julius Ceasar would be impossible on account of having no biological modern day descendants.

But, for example, Napoleon would have been interesting, given his encounters with Arno and his possession of an Apple of Eden. Napoleon's illegitimate son, Charles Léon, was born in 1806, about 2 years after Napoleon became emperor. One would think that exploring Napoleon's memories would be beneficial.
