After a dose of OW, I'm relaxed now. After I read the tweet and its responses, I was f*****g mad. Jesus XD. I didn't know the concept of retcon until now (yeah, I've not seen that many series. Just a few)
It's just that... the retcon stuff could be useful in other media. I don't know... how like THE MOVIE? Clearly, that lore disaster could use some help instead of a very well-established chapter in the saga. Think about it, the war between Assassins and Templars is set in a world where everything the common people used to think or believe is a big f*****g lie, and the ones with the real answers are these two organizations that existed since... forever. And as such, it's supposed that the knowledge they carry must be passed down from generation to generation. That's what the Sanctuary is actually. A place to remember those Assassins who saved the world in times of need. Why the need of a retcon? As you say, guys, it's unnecessary. Maybe yes, I'm talking just because I like to talk too much, but the situation with Amunet is forced. At least, I feel it kinda forced.
As they say, they'll respect previous details said in the lore, and they have only talked about Amunet. But what about Iltani? or even Wei Yu (as Sol Pacificus explained). They are still untouched, for now. Maybe in the future, some retcon will be done and I'll eat my words. But why Amunet and not the others? Just because of Origins? I don't like the idea of disturbing those well-established episodes just for plot's sake.
It's just like... they know some of us are waiting to see Amunet in the game. They know, so... they said "well, let's do the opposite then. If they wait for it, they'll never know what'll happen if we don't make it happen". And that's not natural. Come to think of it... it's also cruel.
As we know, Amunet killed Cleo with her asp. How? Maybe she had some mental connection with it just like Bayek and Senu... or it was a very trained asp... and Bayek's wife served her as some kind of guardian or personal police... Idk. Bayek doesn't like Cleo so much as his wife does, but because of Aya, he'll do anything to help. So a reunion between Amunet and Bayek is imminent. (Except if the developers and writers decided to not show the fatal scene in the game. And that would be just a waste of good resources) It's a time bomb. Amunet was an Assassin, Aya has a connection with them (she's in possession of a Hidden Blade) or she's one herself, and Bayek will create the creed at the end of the game (or close), so everything piece of the puzzle matches perfectly to an encounter.
I'll hear Master Sima Yi's words and I'm going to believe that this is a red herring, just like what happened before when Mr. Aymar lied about the first leaked image of Origins not being actually Origins.
Oh and... Wasn't Amunet the name of an Egyptian goddess too?
