You're not making the story more interesting, you're breaking it! Use those elements to fix the disaster the movie made instead of ruin well-established lore.

To be honest, given that his comment could certainly have been referring to Cleopatra's death in actual history and his follow-up a teasing remark, I think we shouldn't be too anxious about it for now. What he wrote doesn't decisively indicate a retcon.
