The games console is just that, a games console. Not an Animus :) Abstergo Entertainment's games don't use any of the Animus technology, though their content is usually derived from memories relived using actual Animi, like the Animus Omega in AC4. So "Liberation" is just like any real-life game, you just put it into your games console (I'm not sure if it's called anything - maybe it is called Animus like the actual machine, that would explain the confusion :P) and play it. Players don't lie down in a fancy chair and actually relive Aveline's memories, they just play edited versions of them.

That's my understanding at least. If I've gone wrong somewhere, I stand corrected, of course ^^;
