I agree with all of the original post's point, except guns. There will always be less emphasis on the Modern Day segments, so I don't see the use in creating an elaborate shooting mechanic (unless we'd have an era where guns are common, which I'm not sure I'd be too excited for). And otherwise they'll just end up with what we had in AC3. So nah, I'll pass on guns.
