<GI_Auditore> I'm a bit nervous to be honest, but let's get this started =)
<Teller> No need to be nervous, here's some help, imagine I am some guy questioning you on a movie about Assassin's Creed and Editing. :)
<Teller> Let me load these questions!
<GI_Auditore> Alright =D
<Teller> Alrighty, so these questions are divided into three different segments; Knowledge of the Series, Editing and Community stuff, so let's get started!
<Teller> When you first joined here, what was the hardest aspect for you to grasp, what mistakes did you make?
<GI_Auditore> The Image Policy was something I didn't quite understand fully (some of the licenses confused me) and some of my images got removed due to poor quality. Took a while but I think I have the hang of it now.
<Teller> Fair enough, now:
<Teller> Excluding yours (above answer), what do you think is the most difficult thing for new editors to get the hang of here, whether it be a editing skill, policy/rules, or just the way things are done here?
<GI_Auditore> The Manual of Style and a few of the necessary codes for formatting may seem a bit complex for absolute newcomers. Some of the policies take a while to get used to as well.
<Teller> Understandable. :)
<Teller> If you came across a page titled “AC is awesome”, and notice that it was created by a user, what would you do?
<GI_Auditore> Something similar has happened before. I usually just add the delete template and leave a note on the user's talk page explaining that stuff like that doesn't belong in the mainspace. In certain cases, I notify an admin as well.
<Teller> What would you say is your specialty, e.g: revamps, templates, images, information, ect?
<Teller> Good answer by the way.
<GI_Auditore> Thanks =)
<GI_Auditore> I like to consider myself a "jack of all trades" kinda guy. I can write out information according to the MoS, do revamps where grammar is concerned and have some basic wiki markup and Photoshop skills.
<Teller> Are you aware of the Manual of Style, such as when to use bolding and italics, how to correctly write a header, and what tense or formatting to write an article in?
<GI_Auditore> Hmm, bolding should be used for the title in the introductory paragraph or cases where emphasis is required. Only the first letter of a header should be capitalized unless part of it is a title of something. Past tense is the generally accepted form and italics should be used for titles of media among other things.
<Teller> Do you fully understand the meaning of the words "Revamp" and "Stub", so you know what pages do and don’t need the templates?
<GI_Auditore> Revamp means the article has many flaws and needs to be written according to the MoS. Stub means the article lacks information, even though the information is available in media, and could use some expansion.
<Teller> Is there any particular edit you’ve made that you are especially proud of, and would like us to analyze as an example of your best work?
<GI_Auditore> Besides the three mentioned in my application, you could check the Assassin's Creed III Outfits page. I rendered the alternate outfits myself =)
<Teller> Now, to the Community stuff.
<Teller> If you were granted the same rights as Staff, how would you use them?
<GI_Auditore> I would try my best to use them to keep the wiki free of vandalism and make it as user-friendly as possible, because skilled editors are what keep our wiki running.
<Teller> Referring to the aforementioned new User having trouble with a certain aspect of the Wiki; how would you help them overcome this problem?
<GI_Auditore> I would leave them a note on their talk page with instructions regarding that aspect and ask them to contact me if they had any further inquiries.
<Teller> The User who created the "AC is awesome" page, has left you a message asking why you tagged it for deletion, how would you respond?
<GI_Auditore> I would explain that the page he/she created would be better suited to a forum or blog post, and does not belong on the mainspace.
<Teller> A person has left you an insulting message on your talk page for no apparent reason, how do you react?
<Teller> A person has left you an insulting message on your talk page for no apparent reason, how do you react?
<Teller> Gah.
<GI_Auditore> I would simply ask them if I had done anything to offend them, and try to resolve the issue peacefully before it escalated, because the last thing I want is to have a flame war on the wiki.
<GI_Auditore> Uh Teller, you there?
<Teller> Sorry, got abit distracted.
<GI_Auditore> No worries =)
<Teller> A person has left you an insulting message on your talk page for no apparent reason, how do you react?
<GI_Auditore> Answered that above =P
<Teller> Gr.
<Teller> You notice a feud between two Users that has gone unnoticed for quite some time, what would you do to resolve the conflict?
<GI_Auditore> I would try to reach a compromise between the two, but if they continue, and their actions disrupted the smooth functioning of the wiki, I would report it to an administrator.
<Teller> You suspect a person of medal/badge abusing/hunting, what do you do?
<GI_Auditore> As I've done a couple of times before, I would leave a note on their talk page stating that their recent actions could be considered to be badge-hunting, which is frowned upon here and could risk them receiving a warning and/or ban.
<Teller> You have been accused of being rude and insulting to another person, upon review of your message, you find that you were in fact quite harsh. Yet you believe that what you said was justified, either because you or somebody else has had problems with them in the past, or you straight out think what you said was necessary. What do you do from here to prevent the problem from escalating?
<GI_Auditore> I would apologize for my rude behavior but remain firm in my stand because I do not tend to make decisions lightly. I would also try to explain my viewpoint from their perspective so they could understand the situation better.
<Teller> Now, onto Knowledge, you only get a minute to answer each question:
<GI_Auditore> Got it.
<Teller> What are the goals and methods of the Assassins and Templars?
<GI_Auditore> Both want peace. Assassins believe freedom is necessary while Templars believe order (dominion) is necessary to achieve their goals.
<Teller> Correct.
<Teller> What caused Daniel to assassinate the Mentor?
<GI_Auditore> Abstergo had implanted a command in his brain to assassinate the Mentor when given the opportunity. It came into effect when the Mentor gave him the ceremonial Hidden Blade.
<Teller> What became of Masyaf once the Assassins had disbanded from that location?
<GI_Auditore> It became overrun and by the time Ezio got there, it was in control of some Byzantines.
<Teller> Why did the Assassins disband from the fortress?
<GI_Auditore> Altair believed that having a public appearance would be a hindrance to the goals of the Order, and thus, the Assassins decided to become a shadow organization.
<Teller> Name three key characters said to appear in AC3, besides Connor.
<GI_Auditore> George Washington, Israel Putnam, Benjamin Franklin.
<Teller> Alright that's it.
<GI_Auditore> Thanks =)
<Teller> One last question; what are you looking forward to most, about AC3?
<GI_Auditore> Definitely the modern day story. Can't wait to see what they've come up with for Desmond =D
<Teller> That's all.
<GI_Auditore> Thanks again Teller, it's been a pleasure! =)
