<Assassin-Rayne> 1. When you first joined here, what was the hardest aspect for you to grasp, what mistakes did you make?
<DarkFeather> I added similar but not appropriately related photos to the Borgia Captains pages. Not a hard concept that the wiki wants exactness, just something I overlooked.
<Assassin-Rayne> Alright.
<Assassin-Rayne> 2. Excluding yours (above answer), what do you think is the most difficult thing for new editors to get the hang of here, whether it be a editing skill, policy/rules, or just the way things are done here?
<DarkFeather> More than likely proper grammar, tense, and format. I see alot of block articles with comma splices and run-on sentences. Occasionally I see present tense but that is less than common.
<Assassin-Rayne> 3. If you came across a page titled “AC is awesome”, and notice that it was created by a user, what would you do?
<DarkFeather> If the title was glaringly obvious, I'd probably try and get it deleted. Otherwise, I would check the sourcing and content for relevancy, style and referencing. If it seemed odd, I would jump into IRC and try to find a sysop to see if the page ought to be kept or deleted. Otherwise, I'd probably leave it alone.
<Assassin-Rayne> 4. What would you say is your specialty, e.g: revamps, templates, images, information, ect?
<DarkFeather> Revamps, grammar edits, etc, at the moment. My knowledge of the series is solid, but I do lack a photographic memory. I will be able to help with code projects, too, once I get used to them. But, for the moment, sticking to style and grammar is my strong suit.
<Assassin-Rayne> 5. Are you aware of the manual of style, such as when to use bolding and italics, how to correctly write a header, and what tense or formatting to write an article in?
<DarkFeather> Past tense, use bold for page title being referenced in the intro paragraph, italics for words from a foreign language, lead paragraph followed by headed subsections with first letter of word in caps, etc. I have the Manual's link bookmarked.
<Assassin-Rayne> 6. Do you fully understand the meaning of the words “Revamp” and “Stub”, so you know what pages do and don’t need the templates?
<DarkFeather> Stub is an article that is currently shorter than would be preferred. Revamp means the page doesn't fit guidelines, so it means it should be compared with the Manual of Style and corrected according to the style.
<Assassin-Rayne> Alright, good. Last question for the Editing section, then comes the Community section.
<Assassin-Rayne> 7. Is there any particular edit you’ve made that you are especially proud of, and would like us to analyse as an example of your best work?
<DarkFeather> Ummm.... I was fairly proud of adding the missing Multiplayer weapons pictures. I've kinda blazed through so many edits I don't remember all my best ones...
<Assassin-Rayne> 1. If you were granted the same rights as Staff, how would you use them?
<DarkFeather> To edit, expand, and revamp the wiki. Maybe if really needed to help keep Community peace and operation, but we really seem to be a coherent, operable bunch as it is, so I don't see a whole lot of need for peering over people's shoulders, so to speak... Definitely not kicking people from the IRC for no reason lol
<Assassin-Rayne> 2. Referring to the aforementioned new user having trouble with a certain aspect of the Wiki; how would you help them overcome this problem?
<DarkFeather> I would try to talk them through the needed edit, point them to the Manual of Style, etc. If they weren't in the IRC, I would leave a message on their talkpage with an IRC link asking them to stop in and talk about the problem. Kinda like the one you left me.
<Assassin-Rayne> Alright
<Assassin-Rayne> 3. The user who created the “AC is awesome” page, has left you a message asking why you <insert possible Apprentice’s answer>, how would you respond?
<DarkFeather> I would tell them that the page is lacks the needed relevancy and specifics to warrant its own page. AC is indeed awesome, which is why we have a Wiki dedicated to it, and, while we appreciate their enthusiasm, it does not really fit with the rest of the Wiki.
<Assassin-Rayne> 4. A person has left you an insulting message on your talk page for no apparent reason, how do you react?
<DarkFeather> Honestly, I would check them out to see if it was a random log-in and if they had done similar acts to others. If it is an isolated incident, I would question them about it on their talk page, mostly to make sure it was them and not someone who hijacked their account. If it is not, I would try and find a staff member to identify the proper course of action, as I am new enough not to know.
<Assassin-Rayne> 5. You notice a feud between two users that has gone unnoticed for quite some time, what would you do to resolve the conflict?
<DarkFeather> I would try to contact the users to see if the issue can be resolved. If the issue has not flown into edit wars or unfriendly conduct (especially towards others in the wiki), then I would more or less let it go -- it's really their problem and they haven't inhibited anyone else from using the wiki. If the issue is drifting into interference with wiki operation, I would probably contact a staff member to try to get fro
<DarkFeather> for a while to prevent damage while they cool off.
<Assassin-Rayne> 6. You suspect a person of medal/badge abusing/hunting, what do you do?
<DarkFeather> I send them a talk page message so we can have a PM discussion in IRC. If they are abusing, then I give them a warning of staff involvement should they not desist. If they aren't and they are sincerely trying to help the Wiki, then all's well.
<Assassin-Rayne> 7. You have been accused of being rude and insulting to another person, upon review of your message, you find that you were in fact quite harsh. Yet you believe that what you said was justified, either because you or somebody else has had problems with them in the past, or you straight out think what you said was necessary. What do you do from here to prevent the problem from escalating?
<DarkFeather> I will apologise for my working, but I will remain strong in my position -- if the message was justified, and a staff member can agree that it was. If I was indeed overbearing, then I apologise for my manner. I am human, and can therefore make mistakes. This I can admit. What I won't do is back down when the issue needs to be dealt with and I can get unbiased verification of the issue's pressing nature.
<Assassin-Rayne> Alright, that's it for the Community section. Now for a few simple questions about the series.
<Assassin-Rayne> 1. What do the Templars and Assassins believe, what are their goals, and why are they striving for them?
<DarkFeather> Both strive for absolute peace, the Templars through control and the Assassins through free will and education (see Altaïr's page). Both are tired of wasted human effort through war. However, the Assassins because they fear the Templar's misuse of the Pieces of Eden for their own gain rather than humanity's. The Assassins strike from the shadows so that there is no open warfare. The Templars counterattack because they cannot tolerate a challenge to their dominance.
<Assassin-Rayne> 2. In what year was Leonardo da Vinci officially inducted in the Assassin Order?
<DarkFeather> I don't think he ever was. He worked with them but never became an Assassin in name, only a good friend of Ezio
<DarkFeather> Ezio and he worked together from 1478 on...
<DarkFeather> But I think he was always freelance. Final answer.
<Assassin-Rayne> 3. Why exactly was Altaïr demoted to the rank of Novice, be as detailed as possible.
<Assassin-Rayne> Detailed but short, I know you're pressed for time. lol
<DarkFeather> Altaïr broke all three Tenets of the Creed. On the way to the first Assassin-owned Piece of Eden, hidden under the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, he killed an innocent man (breaking the first). Then, he openly challenged Robert de Sable, breaking the second. The Templars killed one of his traveling companions (Kadar), severely wounded the other (Malik) and, when Altaïr fled, they followed him back to Masyaf, killing many as they ravaged the village. Though indirect, this broke the third tenet. Al-Mualim could not stand for such failure, and publicly Altaïr was demoted to Novice.
<DarkFeather> Detailed enough? lol
<Assassin-Rayne> 4. Who designed and built Ezio's second hidden blade?
<DarkFeather> Taken from Codex designs that Altaïr left behind, Leondardo da Vinci designed and built the right-hand hidden blade with the assistance of his understudies.
<Assassin-Rayne> Good, good
<Assassin-Rayne> Final question
<Assassin-Rayne> 5. Do you have any questions concerning the Wiki, its Staff, or their roles and responsibilities; or any final comments you would like us to take into consideration before we conclude this interview?
<Assassin-Rayne> lol
<DarkFeather> Ehh, what I would want to know I could know only by Apprenticeship. I have a good enough idea of my role, and I'm ready to step in if you all would like me aboard :)
