Interview conducted by Elchzard.
[18:03] <Elchzard> I'm going to ask you three sets of questions, based on three major aspects of the wiki: Editing, The Community and Knowledge over the series.
[18:03] <Elchzard> On the third section, there is a time limit of one minute, to ensure you don't cheat.
[18:03] <Amnestyyy> understood
[18:03] <Amnestyyy> sounds fair
[18:04] <Elchzard> Any answer given drastically after the one minute time limit will make the question null and void.
[18:04] <Amnestyyy> sounds fair as well :)
[18:04] <Elchzard> I think that's about all I have to say... Are you ready, Amnestyyy?
[18:04] <Amnestyyy> yes, I am
[18:05] <Elchzard> First section: Editing.
[18:05] <Elchzard> When you first joined here, what was the hardest aspect for you to grasp, and what mistakes did you make?
[18:06] <Amnestyyy> most of my mistakes were caused by many paged already being "almost" complete, which caused me to add information that had already been added without noticing
[18:07] <Amnestyyy> after which I had to undo my own contributions
[18:07] <Elchzard> Okay. And what did you find the hardest aspect to grasp?
[18:07] <Amnestyyy> It took me a while to get used to the rules and the style in which we write our articles
[18:08] <Elchzard> Okay, good.
[18:08] <Elchzard> While stalking the recent activity feed, you come across a page titled “AC is awesum”, and notice that it was created by an anonymous, unregistered user. What will you do?
[18:10] <Amnestyyy> First I'd check the page history to see when it was created and who created it, after that I'd check the pages content to see whether it is appropriate and useful (probably not). If it isn't I'd contact and admin to tell him/her about the page and let them see what should be done with it
[18:10] <Elchzard> Okay. So that's the first action you'd take?
[18:11] <Amnestyyy> yes, that would be my first reaction to such a page
[18:12] <Elchzard> Okay, thank you.
[18:12] <Elchzard> Anything else to add, or may I move on?
[18:12] <Amnestyyy> you may move on
[18:13] <Elchzard> Are you aware of the manual of style, such as when to use bolding and italics and how to correctly write a header?
[18:15] <Amnestyyy> italics are used for quotes (when not in the template, such as the dialogues in the memorie-articles), but also for sentences in different languages
[18:15] <Amnestyyy> bolding is used in the first paragraph of a article, when you tell what the article is about
[18:17] <Amnestyyy> oh, I forgot the heading!
[18:17] <Elchzard> xD :P
[18:17] <Elchzard> Go ahead.
[18:19] <Amnestyyy> we don't use unnecessary capital letters in headers, and subsections should be given with a different header, if I'm not mistaken
[18:20] <Elchzard> Okay. And how does one insert those headers into an article? As in, what process would you go through to input a subheading for a page, and a subheading below that?
[18:21] <Amnestyyy> I don't really understand the question, could you please re-phrase it?
[18:23] <Elchzard> Okay. I'm making an article. I need a sub-section of that article, called 'Attack on Masyaf', and another sub-section of /that/ section, called 'Battle'. How would I go around making those words into section-headings, rather than normally formatted words?
[18:24] <Amnestyyy> through the format feature on top of the editting menu, there you can select what kind of heading you wish to make
[18:25] <Elchzard> Okay, thank you.
[18:25] <Elchzard> Do you fully understand the meaning of the words “Revamp” and “Stub”, so you know what pages do and don’t need the relevant templates?
[18:26] <Amnestyyy> a stub is an article that is not as long/detailed as we want it to be, a page in need of a revamp usually contains enough information, though it may not be written according to our style, or it may contain grammar errors or other such things
[18:26] <Elchzard> Good. Cheers. :)
[18:26] <Elchzard> Anything to add?
[18:26] <Amnestyyy> no, don't think so :)
[18:27] <Elchzard> Good good :)
[18:27] <Elchzard> What do you think is the most difficult thing for new editors to get the hang of here, whether it be a editing skill, policy/rules, or just the way things are done here (Excluding your answer to my first question)?
[18:29] <Amnestyyy> I think the hardest thing for new editors is to have enough knowledge to actually contribute to the wiki, many of our contributors have an amazing amount of knowledge on the AC universe, which can be pretty intimidating to newcomers
[18:29] <Elchzard> Good, thank you.
[18:29] <Elchzard> Any more to add?
[18:29] <Amnestyyy> no, nothing to add
[18:29] <Elchzard> Okay, thank you.
[18:30] <Elchzard> Last question for this section - Are there any particular edits you’ve made that you are especially proud of, and would like us to analyse as an example of your best work?
[18:31] <Amnestyyy> I haven't been on this wiki for very long and haven't made any really impressive edits. I've added a few dialogue sections to certain memories and I have done a lot of proofreading and fixing grammar errors, which isn't a very prestigious job, but it still has to be done...
[18:31] <Elchzard> Okay, cool.
[18:31] <Elchzard> Anything else to add?
[18:31] <Amnestyyy> no :)
[18:32] <Elchzard> Okay
[18:32] <Elchzard> Second section - The Community
[18:33] <Elchzard> You suspect a person of medal/badge abusing/hunting, what do you do?
[18:34] <Amnestyyy> I'd sent him a message on his talk page, telling him we don't want people to do badge hunting and telling him why he's suspected of doing that. I'd also give him a few pointers on how to change into a good contributor without being suspected of badge hunting
[18:34] <Elchzard> Good. Anything else?
[18:36] <Amnestyyy> If he listens and changes his contribution-behaviour, the problem would be solved... If not, I'd sent him another message, still being friendly but also making very clear we don't like that kind of behaviour
[18:36] <Elchzard> Bene.
[18:36] <Elchzard> And now it's time for my ten minute break
[18:36] <Elchzard> I have to go eat
[18:36] <Amnestyyy> take your time, I'm not going anywhere :)
[18:37] <Elchzard> I suggest you use this time to think of any possible questions I might ask, and think of answers, etc. :P
[18:37] <Elchzard> I shall see you in ten minutes, Padawan
[18:37] <Amnestyyy> Very well :)
[18:45] <Elchzard> And I'm back
[18:46] <Amnestyyy> okay, great
[18:46] <Elchzard> Ready for your next question?
[18:46] <Amnestyyy> yes
[18:47] <Elchzard> The user who created the “AC is awesome” page has left you a message asking why you asked for it to be deleted. How will you respond?
[18:48] <Amnestyyy> I'll send him a message on his talkpage telling him why the article isn't really a contribution to our wiki, clearly explaining what we expect of articles on our wiki
[18:49] <Elchzard> Okay. Good. Any more to add?
[18:49] <Amnestyyy> no, nothing
[18:49] <Elchzard> Good good. :)
[18:49] <Elchzard> A person has left you an insulting message on your talk page for no apparent reason. How do you react?
[18:51] <Amnestyyy> I'd go and check who left the message, I'd check his contributions to see if he's only sent such a message to me or if he did the same to others. If it was just me I'd leave amessage on his talk page asking why he's sent the insulting message. If he had done so to others as well, I'd do the same, only this time I'd also inform one of our admins
[18:52] <Elchzard> Good, good.
[18:52] <Elchzard> Anything else to add?
[18:52] <Amnestyyy> no, nothing
[18:52] <Elchzard> Okay
[18:52] <Elchzard> If you were granted the same rights as Staff, how would you use them?
[18:54] <Amnestyyy> I'd be doing pretty much the same thing is I'd normally do, only I would keep an eye on the recent activity feed, regularly checking other edits to keep myself informed on what's happening on the wiki. If necessary I might use my position to do some conflict solving, but only if it's really getting out of bounds.
[18:55] <Elchzard> Cool
[18:55] <Elchzard> Any more to add?
[18:55] <Amnestyyy> no, nothing to add
[18:56] <Elchzard> Okay, good
[18:56] <Elchzard> You notice a feud between two users that has gone unnoticed for quite some time. What would you do to resolve the conflict?
[18:58] <Amnestyyy> I'd sent both of the users a message to see what it's all about, informing myself of the reason(s) behind the feud. After that, I'd help the users to find a solution that leaves both users satisfied with the situation.
[18:58] <Elchzard> Okay, good
[18:58] <Elchzard> Any more to add?
[18:58] <Amnestyyy> no
[18:59] <Elchzard> You have been accused of being rude and insulting to another person, upon review of your message, you find that you were in fact quite harsh. Yet you believe that what you said was justified, either because you or somebody else has had problems with them in the past, or you straight out think what you said was necessary.
[18:59] <Elchzard> What do you do from here to prevent the problem from escalating?
[19:01] <Amnestyyy> I'd sent the receiver of my message another message, admitting that I might indeed have been a bit harsh, after which I'd explain to him/her that even though I've apologized, that doesn't mean it wasn't true, I should just have said it in a more appropriate manner...
[19:02] <Elchzard> Okay, well done.
[19:02] <Elchzard> Any more?
[19:02] <Amnestyyy> no, don't think so
[19:02] <Elchzard> Cool
[19:03] <Elchzard> Okkkay, I think that's all I have for this section...
[19:03] <Amnestyyy> Good :)
[19:03] <Elchzard> And now, we move on to Knowledge over the series
[19:03] <Elchzard> This shouldn't be /too/ hard, but if they are, it's probably my fault.
[19:04] <Amnestyyy> we'll see :)
[19:04] <Elchzard> Remember, there's a one minute time limit - NO CHEATING! xD
[19:04] <Amnestyyy> I won't, I won't, don't worry :P
[19:05] <Elchzard> Okay, first off - In what year was Leonardo da Vinci officially inducted in the Assassin Order?
[19:06] <Amnestyyy> Um... he wasn't.
[19:06] <Elchzard> Well done.
[19:06] <Elchzard> Trick question :P
[19:06] <Amnestyyy> easy one xD
[19:06] <Elchzard> You'd be surprised, actually :P
[19:06] <Amnestyyy> yeah, I bet xD
[19:06] <Elchzard> Next - Who designed and built Ezio's second hidden blade?
[19:07] <Amnestyyy> Leonardo built it, but it was based on the designs Altaïr had written/drawn in the codex pages
[19:07] <Elchzard> Nice, well done.
[19:08] <Elchzard> Alright then...
[19:09] <Elchzard> In what year were Ezio's two brothers and father hanged, and, for a bonus mark, what reason were they hanged for?
[19:10] <Amnestyyy> they were hanged because they were accused of treason against the city of Firenze (Florence), but in fact, they were hanged because they posed a threat to the Templars... I believe it was 1476
[19:12] <Elchzard> Nice, well done
[19:14] <Elchzard> Why exactly was Altaïr demoted to the rank of Novice? Be as detailed as possible.
[19:16] <Amnestyyy> He was demoted because he broke the three tenets of the Assassin's Creed, he killed an innocent old civilian in Solomon's temple (tenet 1), he drew attention to him before he attacked Robert de Sable (tenet 2) and he compromised the brotherhood by letting the Templars follow him to Masyaf (tenet 3), I just hope I haven't taken more than 1 minute :P
[19:16] <Elchzard> Slightly over, but I'll allow for typing time
[19:16] <Amnestyyy> awesome :)
[19:18] <Elchzard> Which arm did Malik Al-Sayf lose as a result of the events in Solomon's Temple, and why/how?
[19:18] <Amnestyyy> left arm, because he became trapped in solomons temple after Altaïr had drawn attention to him and his brother but was thrown out of the room
[19:19] <Amnestyyy> he managed to escape with the apple of eden, but lost his arm and his brother in the process
[19:19] <Elchzard> Okay, thank you
[19:20] <Elchzard> I think... Two more
[19:20] <Amnestyyy> just ask, I'll do my best to answer :)
[19:24] <Elchzard> Name 2 or 3 side effects of spending too long in the Animus.
[19:24] <Amnestyyy> if one spends too long in the Animus, he'll start suffering from the bleeding effect, also he may get hallucinations
[19:24] <Amnestyyy> not to mention he gains weight
[19:25] <Elchzard> Okay, bonus question - Brief outline of the bleeding effect, please.
[19:25] <Amnestyyy> the bleeding effect means that the subject that spends his time in the animus may pick up the abilities of his ancestors (Eagle vision, for instance)
[19:26] <Elchzard> Nice, well done
[19:26] <Elchzard> One more
[19:26] <Elchzard> Have you read the interview logs of other apprentices? I need to know if I can recycle any more questions. xD
[19:27] <Amnestyyy> Are there interview logs? If there are, I haven't found them yet xD
[19:27] <Elchzard> Okay, good. xD
[19:28] <Elchzard> Who was the head of the Merchants guild in Venice?
[19:29] <Amnestyyy> Emilio Barbarigo was the head of the merchants in Venice (though he abused them), though I don't remember anyone actually calling it a guild
[19:29] <Elchzard> Well done! :)
[19:29] <Elchzard> Do you have any questions concerning the Wiki, its Staff, or their roles and responsibilities; or any final comments you would like us to take into consideration before we conclude this interview?
[19:29] <Elchzard> No time limit, just a general question
[19:30] <Amnestyyy> No, no questions. Just keep in mind I'm trying to become an apprentice, I still have a lot to learn, but I'm a very eager student :)
[19:30] <Elchzard> Okay, we're done
[19:31] <Amnestyyy> great :)
[19:31] <Elchzard> That concludes the interview, well done. :)
