Abandoned Village

The Abandoned Village was a deserted village situated in the Wilderness west of Baghdad during the 9th century.
History[edit | edit source]
In the 860s, the Hidden One Basim ibn Ishaq passed by the village and talked with one of its remaining inhabitants, Ma'bad, who claimed the place had been cursed by an evil spirit, a Si'la'. However, after Basim investigated the village and the bodies of the deceased, he concluded that the villagers had died because of a fatal poison they had stolen from passing Chinese merchants.[1]
When Basim told Ma'bad of his discovery, the latter revealed that he had planned the robbery and realized what he had done. Ma'bad was then left to reflect on his actions.[1] Before leaving, Basim solved an enigma and found the treasure it led to south of the village.[2]
