Ysane was a poet and musician who lived in Lunden, Mercia around 870s CE. She was a member of the band called The Gleemen, alongside Cynewulf and Kitt.

Ysane was interested in poetry and music ever since she was a young girl, when she would write ballads about God. As a young woman, she joined The Gleemen and was the band's songwriter. After Cynewulf slept with Ysane's lover and muse, the band dissolved, with Ysane no longer being able to write songs for them to perform. Having been accustomed with writing only when in love, she remained without new composition until Eivor Varinsdottir came upon her, inspiring her to write a different type of music. Thanks to the Viking's meddling, the band reunited and performed again.[1]
