The Rend Asunder
The Rend Asunder is a powerful and heavily modified revolver invented by the mad scientist Dr. Daniel.
Featuring a wooden grip and a gilded barrel with a scope, in November 2015, a virtual Rend Asunder was made available to an Initiate exploring the genetic memories of Victorian era British Assassins Evie and Jacob Frye through an Animus hack.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The Rend Asunder is unlocked by downloading the Assassin's Creed: Syndicate downloadable content Steampunk Pack. As the name implies, the equipment acquired through this DLC, including the Rend Asunder, is inspired by the steampunk genre. Whether or not the Rend Asunder truly existed during the time of Jacob and Evie Frye in Syndicate is unclear as the DLC it is acquired from states that the items are made available through an Animus hack, meaning that the Rend Asunder found in the game is canonically only a virtual weapon used by the Initiate using the Helix software. However, as the Rend Asunder is based on the Savage 1861 Navy revolver,[2] albeit with extensive modifications, a gun similar to it would not be anachronistic.
Despite possessing a scope, it is not possible to zoom in while aiming this weapon.
