Mosteiro dos Jerónimos
Mosteiro dos Jerónimos was a monastery of the Order of Saint Jerome in Lisbon, Portugal. The building is now a World Heritage Site.[1]
History[edit | edit source]
In May 1519, members of the local chapter of the Assassins visited the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos as part of their search for the clues to the havens Leonardo da Vinci hid in the city.[2] The investigation into the monastery had some difficulties, starting with their locks being difficult to pick, thanks to the Hieronymites' tendency for secrecy.[3] The Assassin infiltrating the location was also surprised by one of the monks in the study,[4] who would not calm down[5] and had to be silenced permanently to avoid further discovery.[6] The search was, however, fruitful,[7] leading to the discovery of a map fragment[8] as well as a register containing the distances between Lisbon and the main nearby villages.[9]
