A blimp is a non-rigid airship that is used for observation and surveillance. The German army used blimps during its occupation of Paris in World War II to survey various parts of the city, such as the Eiffel Tower and the surrounding area.[1]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The blimps that appear in Assassin's Creed: Unity are modeled after the French Zodiac MBZ-3, which were historically used by the German forces.
Unlike other aircraft such as zeppelins, which can be rigid or semi-rigid, blimps do not have an internal structural framework or a keel and rely on the pressure of their lifting gas and the strength of the envelope to maintain their shape.[2]
