Ares' Bow of Slaughter was a 5th century BCE bow made for and dedicated to the Greek god of war Ares in Gortyn, Messara. Made from the fangs of lions, sharks, and lynxes, the bow was imbued with their ferocity, and its nature regarded to be akin to Ares' himself.
During the Peloponnesian War, the bow was made by a Gortynian bowyer for the Spartan misthios Kassandra in exchange for some fangs.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Ares' Bow of Slaughter, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, shares the same model as the commonly found Ornate Bow, another weapon in the same game. These are both the recycled model of the Wings of Ashur, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Origins.
