Errol Leslie Thomson Flynn (20 June 1909 – 14 October 1959) was an American-based Australian actor who contributed largely to the success of Hollywood movies in their early days.[1] In 1935, his debut Hollywood film was in the black-and-white pirate film Captain Blood one of the first mainstream pirate films.[2] The role secured his claim of being a successor to actor Douglas Fairbanks.[3]

Legacy[edit | edit source]

Remembered for his impact on Hollywood films and pop culture, Errol Flynn was mentioned by the Abstergo Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Olivier Garneau in 2013 to their newly hired research analyst, who was tasked with reliving the memories of Edward Kenway the pirate. Garneau explained consumer's fascination with pirates and how it was how Hollywood got its start, with the pirate films of Errol Flynn and Douglas Fairbanks.[4]
