The Wooden Bridge

The Wooden Bridge was a bridge in Paris which connected the southern part of the city to the island, Île de la Cité.

History[edit | edit source]

In the late 9th century, the Viking jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir came to find herself underneath the Wooden Bridge, after seeking guidance and advice from a Briton smuggler and former lover of Toka Sinricsdottir, Nolwenn. Nolwenn let it slip that the bridge's foundations were in rough shape and that it might not hold up from a massive attack. Thus, she followed suit and found explosive cartridges around the bridge's weakpoints. Setting up the explosives, Eivor put them in catastrophic yet decisive locations, which were perfect for a trap during the siege.[1]

From his rally cry, Viking leader Sigfred of the Elgring Clan led his warriors, his niece, and his allies to attack Paris once and for all. Amidst their attack, Toka and her men attacked and killed the guards underneath the bridge. With her crossbow, Toka fired her shot and brought down the Wooden Bridge. From this destruction, Sigfred and Eivor, with their warriors, made their way towards the gates of the Île de la Cité.[2]
