Meung-sur-Loire is a commune in north-central France.

On 15 June 1429, Meung-sur-Loire was the site of a battle between the French and the English during the Hundred Years' War. The English forces led by John Talbot, 1st Earl of Shrewsbury and Thomas Scales, 7th Baron Scales were defeated by the French army, led by Jean II d'Alençon and Jeanne d'Arc. A decisive victory for the French, they left a garrison there and continued on to city of Beaugency.[1]
