The Giralda is the bell tower of Seville Cathedral in Seville, Spain, being repurposed from the minaret for the Great Mosque.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

In May 1519, members of the local chapter of the Assassins visited the Giralda as part of their search for the clues to the havens Leonardo da Vinci hid in the city.[2] Hoping to get a better view of the city,[3] one Assassin decided to scale the bell tower.[4] Up high, they noticed tiles in the tower's parapet,[5] an unusual location for them to be added,[6] and further examination did confirm a diagram fragment made by da Vinci.[7] They also took note of a nearby building that was of interest, and left for the Alcázar.[8]
