The Adelphi Theatre is a theatre in London. In 1888, the actor Richard Altman, who worked at the theatre, was stabbed to death by Woody Shinnings, his understudy. Inspector Frederick Abberline of the Metropolitan Police Service asked the Assassin Evie Frye to bring Shinnings to justice, which she did successfully.[1]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Richard Altman's murder by Woody Shinnings is based on a real-life incident where the actor William Terriss was stabbed outside the Adelphi Theatre by his co-worker Richard Archer Prince in December 1897.
