Sardinia
Sardinia is a large island in the Mediterranean Sea. It is part of Italy, and lies west of it and just south of Corsica.
History[edit | edit source]
Following the Treaty of The Hague in 1720,[1] the Kingdom of Sardinia was handed by the Spanish Empire to the Italian House of Savoy. With the territory also being coveted by the French during the Seven Years' War, the Colonial Templar Shay Cormac sent envoys to the island to influence those in power towards the Order's ideals.[2] These hand-picked envoys managed to sway the then-new governor, and he shared news of both France's and Italy's naval activities with the Templars.[3]
In the mid-19th century, Sardinia allied itself with Britain, France, and the Ottoman Empire to fight against the expansion of the Russian Empire into Ottoman territory during the Crimean War.[4]
