The Abbasid Revolution was the overthrow of the Umayyad dynasty by the Abbasid dynasty in 750.

The survivors of the revolution, including Umayyad prince Abd al-Rahman I, were driven west and established themselves in the Iberian Peninsula, founding the Emirate of Córdoba.[1]
